Profits Over People and We The People Is A Myth

For the first time ever the Health Care Bill has passed in the House. However, before it even reaches the Senate floor, the Senators are sending out the message that it is dead on arrival. It seems that campaign contributions are more important and are the Senators only sole priority, because people are dying and the Senators don't seem to care, nor do Health Insurance Companies. As always, it is profit over people and "We the People" is a myth in the United States. Instead it is "We the Corporations" that the Senators are working hard in behalf of not "We the People."

Before the President took office, he made some promises. Well, he has been trying to keep those promises in spite of strong opposition and all the distractions that have been thrown in his path. However, he cannot do it alone and that was something he made perfectly clear the day he won the elections. Americans are so fickle, impatient, most are mentally lazy, and have very short memories.

"The big arguments against the public option have been these: that the government is incapable of running an insurance plan, that the free-market provides consumers with better choices, that socialized insurance will have unfair advantages. But as Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David K. Johnston recently reported, these arguments do not stop some of the big opponents of socialized insurance for voting for socialized insurance when that insurance is not for the wellbeing of people but of property and insurance companies." ~~Heather--Crooksandliars~~

Day after day, we've been bombarded with false rumors and fear tactics from the GOP party, Insurance Companies, the rightwing pundits in MSM, and all of those who want the President to fail. None care that if he fails that means the American people fail. Therefore, the American people are fed BS on a daily basis. We gobble it up like it is the best desert or meal we've ever tasted in our lives. The MSM and GOP would have you to believe that President Obama has not done a darn thing since he has been in office, which has been only 10 months and eight days to be exact.

Okay, so let me refresh people's memory on what our President has done since taking office:

1. Greater funding for veteran healthcare
2. Increase funding for public education
3. Expansion of the earn Income tax credit
4. Tax credit for college student
5. Electric Grid infrastructure package
6. SCHIP pass & signed into law
7. Ledbetter bill pass & signed into law
8. disarmament talks with Russia re-started
9. worked on building America's image up with foreign countries

I'd say that is a pretty good start seeing how the last 40 something Presidents did not get that much accomplished in 4 years and it only took President Obama a few months to get that much done. But the President is a black man, so our American history of expecting way more out of blacks on the job as far as job performance goes than whites is expected and nothing new. No other group of minority people have had to deal with that or do they? I'm sure most of you black folks can relate to that.

Black folks have always been expected to jump hoops and do way above and beyond on the job whereas whites can glide through doing barely anything and are promoted over blacks who have paid their dues, have senority,or have trained those same white folks on the job. BTW, the Ledbetter act, they've were fighting for equal pay for women when I was still in the workforce many years ago. So, that in itself was a great accomplishment.

Do you think that MSM will highlight our President's accomplishments? Nope, sad to say they won't not in post racial America. Instead, they will highlight all of the false rumors, the fear tactics, and BS. Will they highlight this?

"In a letter to Cigna chairman H. Edward Hanway this week, Rockefeller also accused Cigna and the other companies of keeping two sets of books: telling Wall Street investors they're spending less on medical care and pocketing the difference, while telling customers and regulators they're spending more."

Will they give it the coverage they do false rumors, fear tactics, and BS? Let me answer that question for you. Hell nah! Yeah, I said that! And? You got to start to wonder whose side MSM, the Senators, and GOP are on. Well, that's easy, they are on the side of profits. Matthew Yglesias made an interesting comment but it rings true as far as those out to make money go. He said:

In Scarface Tony Montana expresses his view that “In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power.” ~~Matthew Yglesias-Think Progress~~

Yeah, I hear ya Matt, but isn't that more in the line of the GOP way of thinking. I mean we did just go through eight years of Bushonomics and before that it was Reaganomics. Let's face it, that's how we got in the situation we're in today and the rich got richer while the poor got poorer. BTW, directing the majority of cast to the Republicans, that's not a good idea either. You see, they had this bad habit of robbing the poor and middleclass to give to the rich. It's that tranferring of money, the old switcher-roo game that I have a problem with because millions of "We the People" suffer and lose two of the basic mandatory necessities that everyone needs to survive, which is the Maslow hieraracy of needs--physiological and safety.

One man, Bill Moyers, with courage to stand up for what is right, that I can truly call a real journalist, had it right when he said this:

"There are no victimless crimes in politics. The price of corruption is passed on to you… Look back at the bulk of legislation passed by Congress in the past decade: an energy bill that gave oil companies huge tax breaks…; a bankruptcy “reform” bill written by credit card companies to make it harder for poor debtors…; the deregulation of the banking, securities, and insurance sectors, which led to rampant corporate malfeasance and greed and the destruction of the retirement plans of millions of small investors; the deregulation of the telecommunications sector, which led to… an undermining of news coverage; protection for rampant overpricing of pharmaceutical drugs"~~Bill Moyers~~

Moyers nailed it down to the letter with that description of how we got where we are now. But we tend to forget that and want to join the bandwagon of those who want the President to fail and go for any false rumor, tactic fear, or conspiracy theory those same folks that mean us no good can drum up and fall for it hook, line, and sinker.

It is time for change and it is, also, time for the American people to stop letting those up on Capitol Hill and the Health Insurance companies who don't have their health and well-being as a priority sell them fried ice cream. People whose only treasure is profits at the expense of others are not good merchants. Therefore, it is time for change and it is also time to wake up.

BTW, this is last topic that I'll be posting. My blog will be shut down after this topic. No more blogging for me, it's time for me to move on. Oops, I almost forgot to tell you good people about these folks here-->Ameritech Electronic Commerce. Now, I know why I kept getting viruses and had to reformat and reinstall constantly-->Ameritech. Looks like I am not the only one that was experiencing this problem with them sending a viruses to computer either. Shame on you Ameritech, you must be a Republican.

Bye bye and I wish all of you the best!

From the very beginning when the first words were uttered, the ability to communicate has played an important role in our world.
Whether within our own thoughts, spoken or written, words have the power to transform the world we live in.

Love, laughter, heroism, friendship, and virtually every emotion we feel as human beings can be inspired by words. Unfortunately, fear, anger, and hatred, can also be invoked by words.

Granny...The blogosphere need your artillery of words to do battle against the words of fear, anger, and hatred.

Get some much needed rest...I know WE will see you soon :)

Ledbetter Act?

Yeah. Sure. As if the women of the WNBA will get the same pay as the men in the NBA.

As if the women of the LPGA will get paid like Tiger Woods and the rest of the field in the PGA.

As if men and women who work as salespeople paid by commissions will earn the same total pay.

Yes, the MEDIA refuse's to give the President credit for anything, well, first of all, he has out SHINED any White President thus far! and trust me, the REP/CON and the Media is well aware of this!

White men are in charge of the Media, they cannot BOAST in the VICTORY'S of this Black President! they didn't expect him to last this LONG!!!! so they try to make him look WORTHLESS! remember who we are dealing with, the White man MUST and they NEED to remain SUPERIOR! let's not forget their HISTORY! it's hard to break OLD habit's!!

The President has thrown these people for a LOOP! they scramble each and every day to Bring him DOWN! they have tried to DOWN play the HEALTH CARE BILL that PASSED by the HOUSE! they know full well this was a GREAT accomplishment for the PRESIDENT! did any other President make it this far? NO, but, this Black President has!!!!!

Now the MEDIA is PLOTTING and PLANNING their next move, CNN is going to do all kind's of special's on GOP Presidential Candidate's, they are starting out early! and they are throwing SARAH PALIN in the pot as well!!!! oh, and trust me, all the CABLE network's want SARAH PALIN to run for President!!!! their Goal is to try to use a WOMAN, to bring down the President!!!!

iseeisee, you, like so many other blacks, believe the president is viewed solely through the lens of race.

As if race explains his falling popularity. On that basis, George Bush should have been popular every day he served. Jimmy Carter should have been a favorite too.

Meanwhile, if being white is the key to winning elections, why did Obama win? Based on your racial theories of voting, McCain and Palin should have won a year ago.

Now you believe the "media" has held a meeting and decided to back Sarah Palin? You are truly out of your mind.

Palin will NOT become the next president of the US. She has made herself the whip of the Republican Party and she will influence the next election, most likely by her role in identifying the Republican candidate who will run against Obama in 2012.

But she will not win the primaries. She herself will not become the candidate unless the Republican Party feels defeated a year before election day.

Palin appeals in many ways, but she is not presidential material.

As for granny's ridiculous list of "achievements", well, the list includes mostly useless items, or, in the case of Healthcare, the legislation may bankrupt the US.

Tax credits for college only matter if you have an income and pay taxes. However, granting tax credits to the parents of students means the colleges can RAISE their tuition by the amount of the tax credit. Thus, education tax credits are foolish.

As for increasing funding for the Veteran's Administration, well, that's simply more proof that there is no way to contain healthcare costs and that the cost of government healthcare programs rises just like private healthcare costs.

Meanwhile, the Veterans Administration serves a select group of people -- 23 million veterans, of whom over 90% are male.

The only important point to understand about the VA and healthcare is understand the importance of limiting the eligibility of patients.

Obama want to offer medical coverage to everyone -- including illegal immigrants. That is the road to ruin.

It seems unnaturally difficult for you boneheads to grasp the difference between MediCARE and MediCAID.

In NY State, even though you do not believe it, the Annual Per-Person Cost of MediCAID is $12,500.

This huge bill is paid by TAXPAYERS, because people receiving MediCAID benefits do not have any money. Poverty is the personal factor that makes a person eligible for MediCAID.

Meanwhile, the Annual Per-Person Bill for MediCARE is $8,000.

That is the amount of money TAXPAYERS contribute to the program. There are over 40 million people enrolled in MediCARE.

There are also 40 million other people enrolled in MediCAID.

Meanwhile, if you have the delusional idea that medical costs will decline if the US GIVES medical coverage to millions of Americans who currently have no medical coverage you are a nitwit.

It is obvious the Obama plan will result in a huge increase in overall medical expenditures. Furthermore, the vastly higher cost will be carried by taxpayers who will see a whopping increase in taxes to cover the open-ended and accelerating bill.

It is also obvious that the biggest beneficiaries will be healthcare companies and healthcare workers.

They will benefit the same way Pitney Bowes benefits due to the ineptitude of the Post Office. But you unimaginative people cannot see how totally you have been bamboozled into believing something utterly impossible.

Percentage of men in the VA is high due to the higher percentage of combat (real from Vietnam was male)when I speak on Blogs I do so only from personel knowledge. Been dealing with the VA since leaving Vietnam 1970. his percentage may change since more women are entering military, By the way each major VA hospital has special and separate clinics for female issues, So please dont disparage VA in regards to number of vets in male/female ratio. Another thing for the commenter that don't know nothing about living in Black skin...you don't live in Black skin..so you can not know how we have to operate in your majority. The African Americans you know will not ever reveal some of the technique used to survive and prosper in your world. Now to Sister Granny...Thanks for the period of your blog. I have enjoyed each and every one. The blog several days ago about the music of our times (don't like the term "old school" due to it makes our knowkedge irrevelant}. WAR was awsome. Those were the days that have made this new school possible. If not it still would be bent shoulders NEGROES. With all our shortcomings...we invoke fear in the white race positive and negative. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE WRITINGS. StillaPanther2

larry55x, you wrote:

"Percentage of men in the VA is high due to the higher percentage of combat (real from Vietnam was male)"

The VA serves a population that is over 90% male because the military itself is mostly male.

You wrote:

"his percentage may change since more women are entering military,"

True. But as I stated, today there are about 23 million veterans and over 90% are male.

You wrote:

"By the way each major VA hospital has special and separate clinics for female issues,"

The preceding is NOT news. The VA website gives lots of information about available services.

You wrote:

"So please dont disparage VA in regards to number of vets in male/female ratio."

There is nothing disparaging about stating the facts of who is served by the VA.

You wrote:

"...you don't live in Black skin..so you can not know how we have to operate in your majority."

I see. So that explains fatherlessness, illegitimacy, low academic achievement, widespread substance abuse and high rates of violence.

You wrote:

"The African Americans you know will not ever reveal some of the technique used to survive and prosper in your world."

I am going to reveal the secret: There is No Secret.

It would be different if there were a black nation somewhere in the world that was prosperous and modern. But that nation does not exist.

The closest the world comes to having a prosperous black nation is in the black population of the US.

Anyway, with a name like larry55x, you give the impression you are a member of the Nation of Islam, which is a violent organization driven by anti-white hate and anti-Semitism.

You wrote:

Fear? Not fear. More like despair. Whites have been waiting a hundred years for blacks to embrace the usual middle-class thinking that leads to a reasonable pleasant life.

The direct victims of illegitimacy, fatherlessness, low academic achievement and violence in the black community are blacks themselves.

Whites get the bill. But blacks create their own misery -- and then blame whites. Sorry. You need a new approach.

Unfortunately, Obama is looking weaker by the day. It is clear he is headed for a terribly disappointing presidency -- one that leads the US in the wrong direction, like the presidency of Jimmy Carter.

Question Granny:

If it is NOT YOUR MONEY in the first place as you and others who support "Multiple Taxpayer Paid Health Care" why do you worry about Insurance Companies PROFITING off of your body being SERVICED?

Seriously. I'd like for you to answer this question.

If you are able to walk into the clinic and receive the medical servicing with the COSTS of maintaining your body being abstracted from you - why do you worry that someone is PROFITING at your expense?

What say do you have or should you have?

The truth is borne out by your unwillingness to REFUSE SERVICE as proof of your resolve against these profits.

Instead you want to have the free serve, TAX the rich AND dictate who will profit.

You and others won't refuse to submit your BODIES to this service as proof of your commitment to your beliefs.

Stunning.

You are correct Anon - unlike any other WHITE president he has been able to maintain 90% support of BLACK PEOPLE

* Despite high Black unemployment rates

* Despite having his party members running Black Majority school systems

* Despite having local Street Pirates replacing the Klan as the their primary threat.

Somewhere on the Internet is a White person who speaks as you do but is called a bigot.

Granny:

Of the items on your list:

1) WHICH OF THEM showcase the BENEFITS to the Black Community that have come from the Progressive having taken over our PUBLIC SCHOOLS and thus made the Black Community more CAPABLE of Performing Professional services, Generating money in support of our standard of living, etc?

2)WHICH OF THESE ITEMS illustrate the increased economic capability within the Black Community as a result of Progressive economic policies having been implemented?

You now look to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT for that which municipal governments had been responsible for.

Though you might indeed be IN RECEIPT OF BENEFIT due to political power - make no mistake about it - these policies have failed to empower our communities with a more organic spirit which says that our aggregate actions and disciplines define the standard of living that is achieved within.

You instead are forced to NATIONALIZE an increasing amount of your entitlements in the name of "Social Justice".

Just pray that this CAPITALISTIC system doesn't go bankrupt from your demands.

I have not seen the people of Honduras, Chad or Laos VOTE themselves an increase in entitlement. Clearly it is not VOTING but the content within which you have a vote.

Education and the knowledge to assemble economic systems can be transplanted anywhere.
