Rocking the Boat?

Today, I was reading about Iran's President Mahmound Ahmadinejah's speech at the UN.  Apparently, a lot of folks got upset with him and walked out on his speech.  Ahmadinejah can be a little hot-headed and make some comments that will have people blinking their eyes wide open as in shock; one of those "Did he really say that" moments.  And...he has this wild notion about the Holocaust that is NOT true. But...well...

What I'm trying to say folks is this, did he lie in his speech at the UN meeting?  Okay, let's see, this is what he said:

"Ahmadinejad's speech pitted the poverty and unhappiness of most countries against the riches and power of the U.S. and unnamed European nations that he accused of perpetuating wars, causing the current global economic crisis and infringing on "the rights and sovereignty of nations."
He attacked the United States and European colonial powers for abducting tens of millions of Africans and making them slaves, for their readiness "to drop thousands of bombs on other countries," and for dominating the U.N. Security Council He singled out the U.S. for using a nuclear bomb against Japan in World War II and imposing and supporting military dictatorships and totalitarian regimes in Asia, Africa and Latin America." ~~Huffingtonpost~~

"It is as lucid as daylight that the same slave masters and colonial powers that once instigated the two world wars have caused widespread misery and disorder with far-reaching effects across the globe since then," ~~Huffingtonpost~~

I think Ahmadinenjah was trying to have a serious talk with those white elitist folks. It appears that he had a lot to get off his chest at that UN meeting.  Well...he should take note how some of us over here in America have been trying to tell certain folks the same thing for years and have been met with the brush off and a wall of denial, especially when it comes to accepting responsibility for screwing up the economy.

Nevertheless, Ahmadinenjah has apparently forgotten about the little insurrection that took place over in his own country not too long ago.  Iranians were rioting like Americans and British folks do when they disagree with the way their being treated by those in authority and they did not seem too happy with the way the elections went down. Iran was looking like Watts for a minute there. I guess we have more in common with Iran than people think.

I thought that a United Nations meetings was supposed to be a place where different country leaders get together and show diplomacy with each other while discussing issues of concern.  Getting up and walking out in a United Nations meeting because you disagree with what someone is saying is not being diplomatic.   It only demonstrated what Ahmadinenejah accused them of and that is arrogance and I'm sure those other world leaders were thinking the same thing.  So, tell me how do you talk to people who like to point to the splinters in other folk's eye, but who don't want you pointing to the two by four in theirs?

Even Rachael Maddow was gloating about the U.S. led walk out. It guess it's easier for Brian Williams and others to talk about the walk out than it is to talk about WHAT Ahmadinejad said;

maybe so but don't think for a minute they aren't racists.

Here's another truth: Iran is the most dangerous rogue nation on the planet. It is just a matter of time before they start a war....a NUCLEAR WAR!! Count on it.

It doesn't take a genius to see that Ahmadinenejah is a very self-centered dangerous man.

Why give respect to anyone who is up to no good?

Yeah. They should have sat there while Ahmadinenejah trashed them. Yeah, that's being really diplomatic.

Why don't you admit it? you dislike America and Europe more than you dislike Iran. Yet, you probably know that Iran won't hesitate to nuke America, Europe and Israel without blinking an eye.

Ahmadinenjah is a very dangerous man with nuclear weapons and the very reason they should use tact when dealing with him, because he is like a time bomb. Why set it off, if it can be avoided by using diplomacy?

How is stating a few historical facts trashing someone?

"How is stating a few historical facts trashing someone?"

Well, having dealt with the truth for well over 60+ years I know that one can use the truth to level with someone, or you can use the truth to level someone.

His speech was one hatred, insults and condescension. It is clear you only see things one way...Iran's way. IMO, if he insults us, the healthy thing to do is to walk out. Staying there only encourages that nut to continue his tirade.

I think, Granny, that the messenger got in the way of his message.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the same Iranian leader that has, for years, called for the destruction of Israel.

This year is no exception:

23 August 2011

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged the worldwide Muslim community as well as non-Muslim countries to stage massive participation in the International Quds Day rallies on Friday. President Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that nations can get rid of 'the infected tumor of the Zionist regime' through mobilizing their beliefs and ideals.

[...]

"Ahmadinejad also noted that Iranians are a pioneer nation in defending oppressed people across the world against 'misconducts of arrogant powers and global Zionism.'

"He expressed hope this year’s Quds Day rallies lead to "the elimination of the Zionist regime and freedom of mankind from evils.” (...)"

Many believe that Ahmadinejad is building up Iran's nuclear arsenal to achieve that end.

His message isn't new. Rev. Wright has sermonized about this nation's current and past evil deeds, and we have a video to prove it.

Fox News propagandists and viewers were treated to it as often as possible, in a bid to stop President Obama's ascension to the presidency.

The Rev. Wright curse ("goddamn America") will, perhaps, be his most memorable saying from this iconic sermon.

The "curse" seems to be coming to fruition: This nation seems suicidal, if we're to believe what Republican presidential wannabes are saying during their debates, and their listeners' ensuing enthusiastic ovations.

Let the uninsured die. Let the government murder those that murder. Punish the children of adults who have entered this country illegally. Reinstitute "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Granny I also went and watched the speech on youtube. (Something that in Iran prolly would not be allowed :))

Truth be told he is like a mirror, reflecting back all the ugly in America. But, more truth be told, given the chance he would gladly step in those shoes and do exactly the same! They are angling for world power also. Everybody wants to be the top guy on the block huh?
What is it with these megalomaniacs? They would actually rather die in a war than live and let live? I should have studied anthropology :)

The problem with Mahmoud is that he is more or less the same kind of person that a lot of our Rushpubliscum politicians are. And you know that two people who are exactly alike will clash, hard, if they spend any time together.

Ahmadinenejah is like a ticking time bomb and people like that you have to use caution and tact in dealing with because right now he is just looking for an open door to do just what he has been threatening to do. Israel is not only one on his list, America and parts of Europe are on it too.

He did not lie about what he said regarding history, but he was saying it to rally up other countries who have something against the three countries too. Don't think for a minute that there were not some at that UN meeting who weren't in agreement with him. It was not a wise decision to walk out because it strengthen his case. Instead being cautious and dealing tactfully would have been a better road to take than snubbing him.

And yes, he is power hungry too. "Ahmadinejad said. "Do these arrogant powers really have the competence and ability to run or govern the world?" He wants that power.

Diaspora:

Hannity and Fox News set out to destroy Rev Wright because he was quoting and repeating what one of Hannity's guest said on one his shows. They didn't like that, so they called themselves killing two birds with one stone. Rev Wright and President Obama.

Anonymous said...

Granny, you seem to forget that Rev Wright tried to derail Obama's campaign. He turned on Obama and let Obama no choice but to move away from him.

Rev. Wright was pretty sick at the time Obama was rising to the top as the first black President.

However, seeing how Obama has operated today, without a backbone, and treating Blacks as though we don't exist, who are unemployed at almost twice the national average, I wish he had never been President.

Diaspora, "I think, Granny, that the messenger got in the way of his message."

Exactly. IMO, that will always be the case with him.

Rev Wright was minding his own business at first and doing what he normally did and that was preach on Sundays and feed and help the poor through the week. Hannity was the one that invaded Rev Wright's church and tried to derail President Obama's campaign, and then everyone turned around and acted like Rev Wright was the villian instead of Hannity. Rev Wright didn't invade the New media's civil right, it was the other way around. Never in all of history has the news media invaded a church and interrupted people's time of worship in a presidential elections in the manner they did this President. That was the most disrespectful and low down thing anyone could do in order to try to bring someone down because of the color of their skin.

Whites used invade, interrupt, disrupt, and control black folk's church service after slavery ended. Nothing was sacred if it pertained to black people, not even their time of worship. so what Hannity did showed another example of racism and bigotry that has not changed.

I respectfully disagree it was a wise decision to walk out...if he has to stay and listen to countries tell him about himself, other countries should have to sit and listen to him. What if he walked out?
