Police Tasered An 86-Year-Old Disabled Grandma In Her Bed

Would someone please check the water at the police stations across America because either it is something wrong with the water or the police done lost their mind.  I sorta think it's the latter, myself.   It appears that the police cannot resist the urge to use excessive force and sometimes deadly force on  folks.  It doesn't matter if they are elderly, disabled with autism, children, unarmed or war veterans.  Enough is enough!
In this case, an 87 year old bedridden granny wearing an oxygen tank was tasered while lying in the bed.

"Police Tasered an 86-year-old disabled grandma in her bed and stepped on her oxygen hose until she couldn’t breathe, after her grandson called 911 seeking medical assistance, the woman and her grandson claim in Oklahoma City Federal Court. Though the grandson said, “Don’t Taze my granny!” an El Reno police officer told another cop to “Taser her!” and wrote in his police report that he did so because the old woman “took a more aggressive posture in her bed,” according to the complaint."~~Tim Hull, Courthouse Newsroom Service!~~

"The police then fired a Taser at her and only one wire struck her, in the left arm; the police then fired a second Taser, striking her to the right and left of the midline of her upper chest and applied high voltage, causing burns to her chest, extreme pain and to pass out"~~Tim Hull, Courthouse Newsroom Service!~~

Those two police officers in this incident don't sound like they playin with a full deck.  Not only did they endanger that old woman's life, that was one of the dumbest moves they could have made. Lucky for them they didn't cause that oxygen tank to blow them all up in bits and pieces.   Does it really take a rocket scientist to figure that out?

The sad part is that now it happens so frequently. Not the Tazering part, but the elderly getting tazered.

The above sounds like something you'd read in the Washington Post's "The Onion" humor blog, in which unbelievably outrageous stories are exaggerated even more.

I hope there is a civil trial so that we can hear these officers' explanations of why they needed to attempt to electrocute granny in her own home, while he was laying incapacitated in her own bed.

I'm sure that there is a valid reason for using a taser on someone's grandmother while they're bedridden......but nothing comes to mind.

Anyone who does something like this has no business being a cop.

Those two are on the wrong side of the badge. If they'd do this a fragile, senior citizen confined to a bed, you just know they're abusive with others.

Granny,

they began using excuses as to why CHILDREN, not teens, but CHILDREN, and we didn't blow back hard enough....

then they tasered the first SENIOR CITIZEN, and we didn't blow back hard enough...

I keep on telling folks, before batons, and other weapons were just used for those ' who ain't WHITE'.

but, this taser mess?

they've lost their damn minds, and truly don't give a shyt. and, each time folks point out their insanity, they have an excuse.

taser someone in a WHEELCHAIR...

the policeman felt threatened..

a bed-ridden woman on oxygen...

the policeman felt threatened...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...

if you are police PROFESSIONAL...
please tell me why the hell you cant subdue CHILDREN and Senior Citizens without shocking them with a taser?

if you're that weak, turn in your badge and do something else.

I feel ya. You and I are on the same page. That's why I've been on a police brutality mode with my topics lately. Enough is enough! I've been paying close attention to the Oscar Grant trial, but I'm leaving Friday for vacation and will probably be on the road when the verdict comes in. I'm not expecting them to convict Mehersele. Nope, they'll let him go free because Oscar is a young black man. They've hinted around to that and let you know that is what is gonna happen.

I totally agree with you that they need to turn in their badge when they cannot subdue children and frail and sickly Senior Citizens. That's not a hard task to do. I know if I'm a Senior Citizen and can do it, they can too, but then I'm not frail, sickly, or weak. The police are supposed to be in good shape and their way younger than me, so there is no excuse for them.

Unless, I can get to a computer while I'm gone, I probably won't be posting topics for a while, because I'll be spending my vacation in the country, deep in the woods.

I hear ya. It does sound unbelievable, but it is real and has been going on since slavery.

Reggie:
When you think of a valid excuse, would you let me know, because I can't think of any either. :)

Kit:

The police have always been abusive and that is the main reason the Black Panthers originated back in the day, because the same thing police are doing now is what they were doing back then. It used to be worse than this. Can you believe that? They used to bring the coroner with them when they got ready to do their dirty deed towards black people.

Most people don't know it, but Oklahoma is BY FAR the most racist state in America. The Whites treat Blacks as though they are still slaves, and the Blacks act like they are still on the plantation. Yep. Blacks and Whites in the 'OK' state are stuck in a time warp.

Having said that, IF this took place in "El Reno", Okla. then it took place in the 'most' racist town IN Oklahoma. Get the picture? If you live in that town(if you can call it that), you are royally screwed-esp. if you are Black. You'd be better off NOT calling for help.

They say that If America were to discount the state of Oklahoma from the national IQ, our country's average IQ would jump by 5 points!

Oklahoma is a horrible horrible place that is full of tumbleweeds, tornadoes, KKKs, subservient Blacks, and giant mosquitoes that will not only suck the blood out of you, but carry you away. Oh, I forgot...be careful of giant tarantulas...they hate humans.

If I EVER see Oklahoma again, it will be too soon. I would just kill myself. It's a very sick place.

Hi Granny, Hope you have a nice vacation. About the story, I'd like to know what aggressive stance could an 86-year-old, bedridden woman could pose to justify such barbarity.

UNBELIEVABLE! I'm completely horrified that this elderly person had to suffer this. What is wrong with people!!

This description is very colorful and the mosquito part made me laugh... and I am so glad that I don't live there:
