While Granny Is Away the Trolls Will Play

Forgive me for not posting.  I have not been posting lately because right now I am feeling down in the dumps and not feeling well.  At first, I was feeling the Christmas spirit.  And then... I lost one of my closest friends and another one of my friends is in the hospital and not doing too good right now.

Both have been my friends for many years, we go back to childhood.  The one that passed just buried one of her daughters last month who died of a heart attack.  My friend came down last week to spend the holidays with her family, children, and grandchildren. She had a heart attack and died.

A couple of days before she died another one of my closest friends had a few strokes. She is not doing too good and now has pneumonia.   Therefore, I had been trying to keep her children from falling apart, being their shoulder to lean on, and encouraging them.  Those that pray, please keep my friend in prayer that she will pull through and have a speedy recovery.

The last couple of days, I have been in the bed because I am exhausted and coming down with a cold or the flu.  I have been feeling weak and achy, so I am trying to nip it in the bud before it gets worse.  It is that time of the year.  Cold weather and I do not agree.

However, I did get all of my Christmas shopping out the way early this year.  What I spent alone should be enough to give the economy a real boost.  Whose big idea was it to make up a lie about Santa Claus?  Right about now, I wish I could send a bill to whoever that person was.  Nonetheless, my kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and other family members will be some happy campers Christmas day, which I am thankful for being able to do and count as a blessing.  So many people are suffering a hardship now and my heart and prayers goes out to them.

I hope that some of you will adopt kids to share blessings with through different charity organization programs, especially some of you folks that like to hoard money.  I doubt if the two GOP sugar daddies Newt and Herman will donate any gifts to any poor kids this year or any year for that fact. That might interfere with Newt and Herman keeping their sidepieces happy.  Yes, I said Newt because a zebra does not change its stripes, if he will cheat on his first wife, he will cheat on the one he has now.

Nevertheless, I am keeping up with the latest news while resting in bed.   Right now, I am not in the right frame of mind to post because I am sad over the loss of my friend.

will truly miss her. I am praying that my other friend pulls through. Therefore, it will be another week or so before I post a topic.

I read the comments some of you posted and I had to laugh, but Koch brothers paying me?   I am not for sale and I do not need their dirty money.   Nevertheless, I pray that you all have a very blessed holiday filled with love, peace, joy, and harmony. Btw, No, that picture is not me!

Granny,

It is difficult to say good bye to our friends. My sympathy goes out to you and her family.

You take care of yourself in the midst of all that is going on. I will be praying for your other friend and you too.

I'm not much on prayer (as you probably know by reading my blog), but I want you to know that both you and your friend will be in my thoughts and I wish the best for both of you.

Granny, I hope you will have a blessed holiday also. I am sorry to hear of your friends and I will pray for the one in the hospital and I will also pray for you to get well and feel better.

LOL. I was just about to ask if that good looking woman was you? That's too bad. I was just going to hop on my bicycle and ride over to take you for a ride. But I think I'm a little too young for you....I'm 86.

Stay strong and know that you are loved, needed and appreciated for all that you do, and all that you will continue to do to make this world a better place for ALL of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, for they truly are our only HOPE for the future.

I'm holding down the fort in Granny style at RedEye's Page while our fearless leader gets her rest for the coming battle to take our country back from the right wing fanatics.

Let us march on until victory is won!

PS ALL of THIS:

Oh Pleeeze...spare me the BS.

Obama couldn't take the country back with a majority in both the House and Senate. In fact, the Repubs have been kicking ass since Obama has been in the WH. Furthermore, Obama has proven he doesn't give a hoot about us.

Wake up, Redeye. Stop dreaming.

Redeye said...

I agree the republicans have been kicking our country in the a$$ because they hate Obama more than they love America. For some strange reason they believe it's in their best political interest to drive the country into the ditch and try to blame it on Obama. I HOPE the majority of VOTERS aren't as stupid as the the majority of VOTERS were in 2010.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Why should the majority be of any different mind-set in 2012? What has happened to change that? Obama is still weak as ever. He can't get anything done. So why would anyone in their right mind elect someone who can't get anything done? Let's face it. Obama is useless--and he has ignored us more than any other President in history.

We need a President who can work both sides of the aisle and Obama isn't the one. Hillary should have been elected President. The country wasn't and still isn't ready for a black President. In fact, America will never be ready. That's the truth.

The more you Anonies attack Obama, the more certain I am that he's the man for the job.

History will remember President Obama as one of this nation's finest presidents--better than W. Bush, H.W. Bush, and Clinton combine.

You Anonies are working too hard to discredit Obama. That tells me that you fear him, that you have no one among you who can hold a candle to his presidency, and that he's going to win another term.

Get use to it!

Thanks to your much carping, Obama'll get my vote in 2012!

BD, your justification for voting for Obama is weak at best. Let's face it. You are going to vote for Obama no matter what. Even if he is a spineless Prez who has been tossed around by the Repubs and Wall Street, you will vote for him because he is Black.

And I thought you were an honest spiritual person who stood on principle. Boy, was I ever wrong.

Black Diaspora said...

"[Y]ou will vote for him because he is Black."

I will vote for him because you have characterized his falsely--"weak," "spineless," and "tossed around."

When you take up an "honest" appraisal of Obama, perhaps we can discuss "principled" positions.

"And I thought you were an honest spiritual person who stood on principle. Boy, was I ever wrong."

Yes, you were "ever wrong," if you believe there are "human principles" upon which I should stand, "spiritual one" for sure, but those I haven't violated.

And if you're the Anonie from our previous blog discussion, get a handle. The only people who choose anonymity are those who themselves hide behind a "honest" face, but are dishonest to the core.

Obama-Biden 2012!

------------------------

Well, we can only hope to rally enough stupid people again this time. I'm doing my part trying to scare all the old people at the nursing home I work at into thinking the republicans want to eliminate social security and medicare. It seems to be working.

We all need to tell as many stupid people as possible that the republicans want to prevent them from voting by requiring some kind of ID. That one is pretty effective.

For those you who run up against individuals who are capable of some modest amount of thought, the tactic should be to discredit any sources of information not controlled by the democratic party (e.g. Fox News). Voters need to forget about those two years when Democrats controlled the elected branches of government, during which time Congress passed and the president signed into law bills that continued the bailouts, spent a trillion dollars on stimulus, and overhauled the health care and financial systems. History actually began on January 5, 2011, when the 112th Congress was sworn into office.

Remember, it's always the republicans fault!

Now let's get going! We have a nation to destroy!

Obama-Biden 2012!

"Now let's get going! We have a nation to destroy!"

If you're going to slam, at least be an equal opportunity slammer.

You imply that you have a command of the facts, and perhaps a "modest amount of thought," and then you proceed to present a barrage of political propaganda, trashing (albeit tongue in cheek) Democrats while giving Republicans a pass.

Here's the truth: The nation was "destroyed" under George W. Bush (and a Republican controlled congress), whose ineptness as president plunged this nation into a recession, and only a few feet from the abyss of a depression.

It was Bush who decided to fight two wars, electing to fight another before finishing the first, and borrowing heavily to pay for them (money borrowed from the Saudis, the Chinese, et al,), rather than raise taxes.

It was Bush who decided to cut taxes for the uber-rich and all others without paying for them--a complaint that our current congress has established as a spending principle--a principle which now must be adhered to before offering tax relief for disasters, or to extend a payroll tax holiday for millions of Americans.

"Voters need to forget about those two years when Democrats controlled the elected branches of government."

Let's tell the whole truth: Having "control" is not the same as having a filibuster proof legislative body. Because it took 60 votes in the Senate to advance any legislation (Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats (actually operating as Republicans in the Democratic party), made all kinds of demands, and received all kind of special treatment for their votes.

Republicans set a record for the number of filibusters they used to block or to stall the passage of any number of bills that Democrats sought to pass.

"[T]he president signed into law bills that continued the bailouts, spent a trillion dollars on stimulus, and overhauled the health care and financial systems."

You're conveniently not accounting for why the president did what he did. That's dishonest! He did this to counter the damage to the economy that occurred under G.W. Bush and a misguided congress, both believing that trickle-down would occur in the economy as long as they made the rich at the top richer.

Speaking of "hope and change," that economic theory didn't work so well for the middle class (the true "job creators" [as their purchasing power creates demand, and thereby jobs]), but it did help to create the largest income inequality in this nation's history.

Not only did Bush's economic model foment hopelessness, the only "change" that came to people were foreclosures by the millions, and an outsourcing of manufacturing jobs to China and other emerging economies by even more millions.

The affordable Health Care Act is saving lives, and extending health care to millions (almost 40 million) that didn't have it before, and reining in abuse and waste long tolerated in the system.

If you're as savvy as you'd have us believe, then you'd know, that for all the money this nation spends on health care, we rank well below many nations in the care we actually provide our citizenry--yes, even below Japan that insures all its people.

As for the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,
Republicans have done all that they could to derail this piece of legislation designed to bring some sanity back to the financial system (although it doesn't go far though) by refusing to fund certain key provisions and to appoint a director to provide oversight.

Obama was supposed to bring the change necessary to turn around the mistakes Bush made, remember? Obama was going to bring "change". Instead, he brought in MORE of the same old crap that Bush had.

How can you in good conscience vote for Obama? The answer is you can't unless you lack principles.

"Obama was supposed to bring the change necessary to turn around the mistakes Bush made, remember?"

I'm not the one with the selective memory, you are. Remember: Bush bailouts took place just prior to the transition that saw Obama take office in January 09.

Very few at the time knew the severe trouble the economy was in despite a hint or two with Bush's tax rebates, checks in the mail designed to re-energize a sluggish economy.

Obama promised to close Gitmo, by bringing detainees onshore and housing them in prisons that were underutilized, but Republicans sent up such a howl that it became politically untenable.

He promised to end the war in Iraq. This year saw the last of our combat troops and mission in Iraq and the bringing home of all troops not necessary for our ambassadorial mission there.

At the moment, we're well into a draw down in Afghanistan (I might add: the real epicenter of the war on terror.) after a temporary build up, and an uptick of predator-drone strikes in Pakistan, and Navy-Seal incursions that saw the capture and death of Osama bin Laden.

He kept another promise by ending DADT (don't ask, don't tell), which, by the way, drove Republicans mad, but which, even from the military brass that opposed it, is said to be going better than anyone expected.

"Obama was going to bring "change". Instead, he brought in MORE of the same old crap that Bush had."

"Oh, my goodness," little Shirley Temple might say to that unsubstantiated statement.

Here's the truth...again: Bush left Obama a smelly, steaming plate of crap--several actually--and Obama has spent the bulk of his presidency holding this nose, as he gently scraped from the nation's overburdened plate each offending piece of crap, and he did it over the vociferous protestations of Republicans as they endeavored to obstruct any effort to bring "hope and change" to the nation, more intent, as they are, on destroying the economy, and the nation, and riding the resultant wave of unemployment malaise into the White House and Congress.

"How can you in good conscience vote for Obama? The answer is you can't unless you lack principles."

Given the crappy legacy of George W. Bush, his administration, and the Congress that aided and abetted his folly, how could I not vote for Obama?

It doesn't take "principles" to decided who I should vote for, the failed Republican policies that wrecked the economy more than a decade ago, and the sorry, pathetic field of Republican candidates vying to become this nation's next president (all eager to continue the damage to our national reputation and economy began under George W. Bush) are reasons enough to vote again for Obama, with the hope that this nation will come to its senses and give Obama a "hope and change" congress from which real "hope and change" might actually emerge.

By the way Anonie, with me you're wasting your time. I'm not just another political, uninformed bumpkin that might fall for the claptrap you're spewing.

Here's a thought for you to ruminate on: If this nation fails to reelect President Obama, and fails once again to give him a Congress from which he might launch a "hope and change" agenda, then this nation will have unleashed and set in motion forces that will spell the decline of our once great empire, not unlike the decline that visited Rome, turning it into rubble--never again to rise to its former glory--all to satisfy a Republican power grab, a grab achieved at the expense of this nation's continued health and viability.

Think about it! Obama-Biden 2012.

Don't you think you are exaggerating a bit? Obama had a majority in Congress when he was elected. The only reason it changed because he was unfit to make the most of having a majority in both Houses. So how do you conclude that this nation is going to go under if voters don't give Obama a majority in both Houses when he failed miserably before with a majority?

The answer is you can't and you know it. You are blowing smoke and trying to manipulate a win for Obama but it won't work. We need to give Romney a shot, or maybe even Ron Paul?

Who knows? maybe in the near future Palin might throw her hat in the ring.

Black Diaspora said...

@anonie: "Don't you think you are exaggerating a bit?"

Naw! You can't exaggerate the truth. A truth can't be truer, as that would be superfluous.

"Obama had a majority in Congress when he was elected."

I so dislike repeating myself: Obama had a super-majority in the House, allowing for the passage of legislation there, but a majority control of the Senate doesn't always translate into the passage of legislation as it requires a filibuster-proof number to advance legislation.

Hence, hundreds of bills passed in the House, rarely came up for a vote in the Senate, because of the filibuster mechanism that Republicans used liberally.

The task of passing bills in the Senate was made harder by Ben Nelson type Democrats (blue dogs), essentially Republicans in the Democratic party. He's retiring at the end of his term, and it couldn't come sooner, or happen to a nicer guy.

"So how do you conclude that this nation is going to go under if voters don't give Obama a majority in both Houses when he failed miserably before with a majority?"

Read what I said about the use of the filibuster, and the requirement of 60 votes in the Senate to advance legislation. Obama didn't fail "miserably," the American people failed.

Republican obstructionism forced the failure of many of the bills brought to the floor of the Senate, as the threshold of 60 votes is a high bar to negotiate.

This nation is already in decline. This is what happens to capitalism once it has completed its run. Now, capital will turn to emerging economies such as China for cheap labor to exploit.

Our workers can't survive on 80 cents an hour wages. Perhaps you can!

"You are blowing smoke and trying to manipulate a win for Obama but it won't work."

What you should know, and don't: A win for Obama won't save us indefinitely. It will merely give this nation a reprieve from an early death. The death of this economy is inevitable. But without eyes to see, you can't see that it's only a matter of time.

No, I'm not "blowing smoke." Herman Cain's campaign manager was the one who blew spoke into the face of the American people, a way to inform those with eyes to see that Cain's campaign was more about fiction than fact--a way to up his retail value for speeches and to sell books.

"We need to give Romney a shot, or maybe even Ron Paul?"

Here's your choice: A quick death (install a Republican). A slow death (install a Democrat). Either way, our days as a powerhouse economy is over.

"Who knows? maybe in the near future Palin might throw her hat in the ring."

In that case, all bets are off. Install a Palin, and our demise won't be in years, but in months.

@Anonie: "You Obamaholics would blame Jesus Christ before you would hold Obama responsible for anything."

You conjure the name of Jesus to make a cheap political point?

You are as irreverent as you are inept as a debater.

If your polemic skills were greater, you wouldn't have to stoop so low as to use Jesus to attack Obama's supporters, and, by extension, Obama himself.

"You really look to him as a god, don't you? Unbelievable."

What's "unbelievable" is that you're here on this blog posting your obvious distaste for Obama, and showing disgust because we don't see eye to eye.

I don't care what you think about Obama, but obviously you care what I think.

You care so much, that you're willing to spend time here telling us about your disbelief and your sadness.

That is truly "unbelievable," as it indicates a mind that can't accept a reality apart from its own imaginings, willing to force a view not generally held, whether it's invited or not, and willing to insult those who think differently from you.

"You don't know what's good for you...how sad."

And if that were true, why would you care? Why are you on this rectification crusade to save misguided Democrats from themselves?

I tell you what: You vote for whom you choose, and I'll for whom I choose (This is, after all, a democracy!)

I want berate you for making your choice as you see it, and you won't berate me for making my choice as I see it.

WRONG! (Like so much of what you post).

The democrats have owned congress since 2006.

The Bush tax cuts actually made the tax code more progressive; the 'rich' paid a higher proportion of taxes after the bush tax cut than they did before.

All you are capable of is parroting democrat-media propaganda.

Bush was a poor president. The worst thing he did was open the door for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama to drive this great country into the ground.

I see Granny took your advice as her latest post repeats the democrat canard of "disenfrachisement".

And I agree; one would have to be pretty stupid to equate an attempt to halt rampant election fraud by enforcing one vote per person by asking for an ID.

If there is one thing the democrats don't want to give up, it's voter fraud.
