In Honor of Those Who Sacrificed In the Civil RIghts Movement

Amen. I remember those days. Not much has changed except they haven't used water hoses, or dogs, or the police hasn't clubbed anyone yet. But make no mistake, as long as America remains the racist country it is, it CAN happen again. Beck is just the tip of the iceberg.

I agree: This why we must remain vigilant, despite many blacks now saying we focus too much on the white racism in our midst.

No one would tell Jews: You focus too much on the antisemitism in your midst.

Those were scary times. No one knows, who wasn't there, just how scary it was. Those blacks who marched, and participated in "sit-ins," literally did so under great peril.

Any significant gains we blacks have made in this country came as a result of our agitation, not because of white benevolence to see black men and women advance, or to improve our social condition.
